Bunk Bed Types
You would be surprised at the options available when choosing a bunk bed, from simple bunks to bunk beds that sleep 3, bunk beds with additional storage and L shaped bunks that fit into the corner of a room to free up space.
These are the usual 2 person bunk bed with 1 person sleeping directly above the other. Some of our standard type bunk beds also come with an additional "trundle bed" which can be pulled out from underneath the bottom bunk to accomodate an extra person - ideal for sleepovers etc.
As the same suggests these triple bunk beds sleep 3 people instead of the usual 2. This is usually achieved by having a single top bunk and a double bottom bunk. Some of our triple bunk beds also offer storage underneath the bottom bunk ideal for smaller rooms.
Unlike a traditional bunk bed where the beds are stacked vertically on top of each other an L shaped bed has them stacked perpendicular -Â so if you imagine the points of a compass... a traditional bunk would have both beds in a North / South direction on top of each other but an L shaped bunk would have the top bunk in a North / South direction and the bottom bunk in a East / West direction. These L shaped bunks fit into the corner of a room and are great for rooms with limited space as they free up extra floor space.
Are bunk beds the right choice?
The most important factor when choosing a bed for your child is safety, bunk beds are recommended for the following ages:

| 4+ | Bottom Bunk Only. If your child is under four years old then a bunk bed is not recommended for them |
| 6+ | Top or Bottom Bunk. If you child is under six years old then it is not recommended that they sleep on the top bunk. |
Bunk Bed FAQ's
Bunk beds are structurally safe, as long as they are properly assembled and constructed. Safety concerns are only raised when assembly is done improperly or from accidents caused by playing on the top bunk.
Bunk beds must comply with EU and British safety standards EN747
In accordance with safety standards and guidelines, only children aged 6 and above can go on the top bunk. It is advisable that teenagers 16 years and older should avoid it. This is because they may exceed the weight and height limits of the bunk bed.
For the bottom bunk, you should ensure that your child has outgrown their toddler bed and is definitely ready to upgrade to a larger children’s bed, see 5 signs your child is ready for a grown-up bed.
Our bunk beds are designed for children, and generally tested to a maximum weight of 80kg. Some bunk beds can take up to 100kg so please check each product. For safety reasons, it is important that you do not exceed the weight guidelines of the bunk bed, with children aged 6+ being the minimum age required for use of the top bunk.
